Posted in cookout on July 31st, 2009 by Tim

The following is an email Ralph asked me to post on the website:

This e-mail is about Music under the stars on the afternoon of Sunday August 9th. Music under the stars is a free concert at the Chamizal memorial park located on Paisano and San Marcial st. Across the street from Bowie High School in south central El Paso. The concert starts at 7:30pm and the band that is playing that night is Windy City Band this is a local band that plays the music of the group Chicago famous for many hits including “Saturday in the park”, “25 or 6 to 4″ and many others. This band is really good. I am planning to be there since noon to get a good shady spot. I will provide enough tables and chairs for all of us, a canopy shade that is 10 x 30 ft and a barbecue grill. The Hog chapter will provide the food which will include Hamburgers and hot dogs and the drinks which will include water and assorted soft drinks. If you would like to have alcoholic beverages which are allowed please bring them. There are no glass containers or pets allowed in the park on concert days. We will start cooking the food from 4:00pm and until everybody eats or 6:30pm which ever is more convenient. You can hang around for the part or all of the concert if you want. Parking is first come first serve. If you want, you can park your motorbike inside the park if you come in between 3:30 and 4:00 there is a good chance that you can get a good parking space inside the park. If you bring your bike take up a whole space so we can fit more bikes as they come in. If the parking inside is already taken you can park in front of Bowie high it is pretty safe because motor cops are parked there. same applies take a whole space. We will try to set up by the chamizal building on the north central part of the park and will be displaying the HOG flag if you get lost call me Ralph At 472-1467 I will Have my cell phone on. Now for the good stuff. I need to know who is coming? All members Active and Inactive and their families and our friends and anyone who is interested in joining the El Paso Hog Group are invited I need a head count by Friday August 7th. If you would like to confirm by e mail. Send it to gl1200jerviss@juno.com or if you prefer to call in, call my digital pager at 578-8160 leave a message with your name and how many in your group. Update for Fort Davis Overnighter

Posted in Ride Planning on July 25th, 2009 by Tim

The Fort Davis overnighter is around the corner, so to speak. Luis needs to know who plans on attending.

Luis says:

Hi Walt,

Please pass this on. We are planning to go on our overnite trip to Alpine, Texas, on August 15 (Saturday). and return the following day. We can get about 10 rooms with a 90 dollar( includes taxes) group rate. It is at the Best Western in Alpine. We get a full breakfast for free. Alpine is near Fort Davis, the Mc D Observatory, and Big Bend park. There are no rooms available in Fort Davis because of prior booking or not enough rooms or they are above 100 dollars (Bed and Breakfasts).

I need to know how many people are interested so that I may reserve a block of rooms and members can call and reserve. Reply to me as soon as possible.

So please respond to Luis as soon as you can, and please direct all questions to Luis’ email as I have no answers. ;-) Check your email for Luis email address. Much like Ragu, it’s in there.

Also, be sure to check the Recent News and Info section of the web site. New stuff coming down the pipe.

Update to 4th of July Cook-Out

Posted in cookout on July 3rd, 2009 by Tim

Charlie Bell says he will park his RV out there by where Jim will be setting up, but he’ll be there about 9-10AM. He’ll set up to provide maximum shade covering, but you may want to bring some of your own shade making device. Also, if you have some tables and chairs, that will be greatly appreciated too.

I told him to email me the specifics and I’ll forward them on to you all.
