Gauging interest for Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train trip

Posted in Ride Planning on March 23rd, 2009 by Tim

Time: May 22-25 (Memorial Day Weekend).

Price: $275.45 per person which includes 3 nights lodging – lodging tax and your train tickets.

Contact Luis Gomez (Activities Officer) if you are interested.

From Luis:

The price in the package is for a 3 night stay at Days Inn in Durango Colorado. It is nicer than the place we stayed last year and it is a very decent rate (around 65 dollars). It comes with a ticket for the train ride. Additional tickets can be purchased for 79 dollars. We would leave on El Paso in the morning and arrive in Durango around 4 pm. We can prepare for Saturday’s evening cookout (tradition) and dine at a local restaurant followed by drinks and socializing. Saturday we have an early breakfast and go to the train station for a 9 a o’clock departure to Silverton (arrive at 1245 pm I believe). We can have light lunches and return to Durango on the train (arrive around 6pm). we can then start our cookout and relax the rest of the night. Sunday we have breakfast and take a ride in the mountains visiting a few towns an returning sometime around 6 pm to rest and socialize. Monday we depart in the morning (not to late I hope) and arrive in El Paso in the evening. Rates are reasonable and gas prices are still low and better for us with our motorcycles. Please respond to my email so that I may have an idea of how many people want to go and rooms and tickets may be blocked off for us. (There is a bicycle race that weekend so we need to start making reservations so I need to have a headcount for the rooms).  Charlie, Eloy, Jose, and myself are interested in going.

Thunder Mountain’s POV

Folks, we are live…

Posted in Site Update on March 12th, 2009 by Tim

It hasn’t been without glitches, but the website is now live, coming at you from deep within the bowels of Barnett Harley-Davidson; smelling of leather, chrome (crinkle black for you black-out lovers), and oil. Enjoy.

One note, the photo gallery still needs a bit of work, and we’ll be working hard to get that straightened out. So here is a list of To-Dos left for the website:

  1. Fix picture gallery
  2. Link to original chapter website
  3. Begin updating Contacts page

Keep your web browsers tuned in to this page (Recent News and Information) and I’ll keep you updated on the progress.

Special thanks goes out to Cesar for making this transition as smooth as possible.

Going live (sort of)

Posted in Meeting Notes on March 8th, 2009 by Tim

Until I can get the server access and place files on the official chapter website, I’m going to make this temporary one available to the public. This way everyone can still see what’s coming up on the the events calendar and view some of the pictures. It also gives you a preview of the new site design. Hope you enjoy it.

We had our Chapter Meeting this morning and set the schedule for the next couple months’ worth of rides and events. Click on the “El Paso H.O.G. Club Calendar” on the right to view these rides and events.

The actual times for the bowling night and dinner at the State Line Restaurant will be updated as I get the information. Check back often to see if there are any updates, and I’ll keep you posted.
