Here is what Mr. Barnett sent me:

We’re sending out 7500 of these flyers. The Red Cross said they’d handle the press releases to all the media. I’ll alert them as well.

Looks like the plan is:

Meet here 9 – 12 Feb 13

Sign up table with 20 bikes at 15 minute intervals

People ride over in small groups, give their money, get a raffle ticket

If they return to Barnett H-D, they get two slices of pizza by showing the raffle ticket

At 2 pm we call out prizes, must be present to win (otherwise, we have to write all the names down at the Red Cross which is a hassle)

We hope the media shows up to film bikes arriving at Red Cross, and probably a shot of everyone in the parking lot preparing to go.

Once we see the number signed up we can divide by 4 and have pizzas delivered for around 1 pm.

The Red Cross will have their own people at tables accepting donations and giving out tickets, we’ll need a few people with sign up sheets here at Barnett H-D from 9 – 12.

Easy enough.

Unless further guidance is given, Let’s plan on being at Barnett’s at 10AM with a $10 donation, and bring your colors if you have them. Also, if you can help by manning (or womanning?) a table I’m sure it would be greatly appreciated, and let me know so I can pass the information along.

I’ve already had quite a response in the short time that since I emailed this out to the club members. Let’s hope we can have maximum participation.

HOG Chapter Bowling Night

The bowling is on our calendar for the 23rd of January, and here is some more info from Louie:

HOG Bowling night is for Saturday, January 23, 2010. We will meet at 6:30 pm at Bowl El paso on Pellicano between Lomaland and Lee Trevino. We have 5 LANES reserved for 7 pm, at $2.40 a game and $1.00 rental of shoes. We will have 50/50 and maybe a door prize giveaway. OINK BROS!

January/February 2010 H.O.G. Newsletter Available

Mike Cordle has issued our first bi-monthly newsletter. A hearty thanks goes out to him and all who contributed for this valiant effort resulting in our superb bulletin. Great stuff Mike. Thank you! I’m sure this will be much appreciated by all our members.

I for one would just like to say that I’m proud to be a part of this Chapter.

HOG Chapter Meeting Review

We had our meeting at Furr’s this morning and scheduled our rides for this and next month. Thanks to all who attended. The Chapter Calendar has been updated to reflect these upcoming rides.

Membership. Folks, please keep your membership current. If you’re not sure of when your national membership expires, contact Andy G. at Barnett’s. He has access to everyone’s membership. It only costs $40 per year, and is required for membership in the local chapter, where the local fees have been waived. Of course you can always buy a new bike when your membership expires, and you’ll get another year for free!

Plans for our 5th Annual Tombstone run were also discussed. Mike (our editor) and Fernie have been working on a design for our T-Shirts, details will be released as they are presented. i’ve seen some preliminary graphics work and it looks awesome!

We plan on our normal two pick-up points for this ride, the East at 8AM and Far East (McNutt & Country Club) at 8:45AM. Travel plans and maps will be available at departure time to all who want one. Plan on grabbing dinner wherever you can Friday night, and the same goes for breakfast the next day in Sierra Vista. Dinner will be served by our own Fernie Magdaleno and should consist of a simple steak, slaw, beans, and dinner rolls. We’ll plan on using chapter funds to offset the cost, and the remainder of the bill will be divided by those in attendance. Please let us know how many of you plan on attending. This will allow us to get an accurate head-count when planning for this dinner.

If you haven’t already, please call up the Motel 6 in Sierra Vista and reserve your room. If you call over the phone and tell them to search under “Hogs,” you’ll get our special discount rate of $72.26 for the entire stay, including taxes. There are only 20 room available for this. Additional rooms may be available after the initial 20, but no guarantee. You can reach Motel 6 at (520) 459-5035. Remember to ask for the reservations for “Hogs.”

Sturgis 2010 was also discussed, more information to follow as I get it.

Safety courses, both standard and advanced were discussed. More info to follow as it becomes available. Also look for it in the upcoming newsletter from Mike Cordle, our editor.

Our next regularly scheduled HOG Chapter meeting will be February 28, 2010.

A Change To The Calendar

Due to scheduling conflicts, we have moved the HOG Meeting from January 3 to January 10 (the next Sunday). January 3rd will be “To Be Determined” ride. Whoever shows will determine where to ride.

Update to Sunday’s Silver City Ride

Same time and pick up points as the schedule states. We’ll ride to Deming via I-10 and have breakfast at our favorite there, La Fonda’s. From there we’ll head to City of Rocks, Lake Roberts, and Pinos Altos.
